Theodicy is how you square the reality of a God who created the world out of love with the heinous, gut-wrenching evil we read in the news every single day. Every theodicy has holes in it; this is an area of wide disagreement in the global, historic church. But with humility, we beat up on one popular theodicy and propose a better way forward.
