Advent is where followers of Jesus take time to remember the birth of the Messiah with anticipation, wonder, and excitement. We marvel at the humility of God becoming human with us. Follow along with us this Advent season as we worship, reflect, and celebrate as a church family.

  • One of the gifts we receive from God in this waiting is hope. Hope, as we understand it in Scriptures, is the expectation of coming good based on the person and promises of God. A little bit of hope can cover over a whole lot of waiting.

  • The kind of peace God brings is not passive, it is God actively breaking into what’s wrong and making it right. So, if the shalom of God is the power of God, then our path of formation and transformation as disciples of Jesus is to not remain peacekeepers, but to become peacemakers. We get to prepare the way for his return by actively making peace around us.

  • In the Scriptures, joy is rooted both in God and in the ways of God, or living life as God intended it. Through Jesus, God is showing us the best way to be human, to live a life filled with joy. In Advent, we watch as joy comes to earth and we wait for the fullness of it to come again.

  • As the people of God, we get to sit in his love, abiding in it, and letting it wash over us. And as we allow it to reach us to our core, we realize that it is our call to embody it, as well.
