Pioneer
Courthouse
Square
Since its creation in 1984, Pioneer Courthouse Square has been affectionately known as Portland’s “Living Room.” The Square, a 40,006 square foot urban park located at the heart of the downtown core, has been a public gathering space for the benefit of Portland’s community members and visitors since its grand opening in 1984. The Square hosts more than 300 programmed events each year that reflect the civic role of the Square within the community.
The Justice Center houses the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Multnomah County Detention Center (one of Multnomah County’s jails), and four courtrooms of the Multnomah County Circuit Court (please note however that the Multnomah County Circuit Court is primarily located in the Multnomah County Courthouse across the street). As the seat of power for justice in Multnomah County, is has been the main site of many of the protests over the last few years.
Lord, you know what it is like to be wrongly accused and convicted for a crime you didn’t commit. You came to bring peace, and your kingdom is one of peace, hope and love yet you were tried like a criminal. Father, we bring before you our brothers and sisters who are awaiting trial and going through what you experienced here on earth. We pray for mercy and hope to surge through the court house and that people would receive victory, freedom, and good news.
In whatever way they may have contributed to the crimes committed, we pray for a repentant heart and for mercy through the system. We know you are the one who turns hearts of stone to hearts of flesh. So Lord we release control of outcomes but ask that you would show mercy where you see fit. We pray that revival and freedom would spread from Pioneer Courthouse Square.
