The Lovejoy Surgicenter recently closed its doors and moved to a new location, but previously was a clinic for abortions and reproductive care for 50 years. It is important to note that abortion rights are a highly passionate and emotional topic for many on both sides of the political spectrum. Regardless of where you land on this spectrum or how you may be personally impacted by abortion, the corner of Lovejoy and 25th remains a spiritual nerve center amidst the longstanding controversy. I imagine it would be a place like this, rather than a church or temple, where Jesus would make it a habit to walk and pray.

Lord, we know that only the walls of this building have seen and known all that you have seen and known here. We pray for every being that has been impacted by the procedures performed at this clinic. We repent and ask for forgiveness from ways we may have contributed to fueling hatred from either side of the abortion controversy. We ask for wisdom and understanding from your Holy Spirit in how to navigate what is a pain point for so many in the city of Portland.
