Practicing the Way: Community

Gather with us for a 4 week discipleship course on Community. We aim to be a community of love and depth in a culture of individualism and superficiality through the practice of. Despite the unprecedented connectivity of the modern era, genuine community is vanishing. Isolation, transience, and superficiality can sabotage our formation into people of mature love. But through Jesus, we enter a new kind of family that offers intimacy, joy, healing, and commitment.

Alpha

Alpha is an open and informal conversation about life, spirituality, and the person of Jesus without judgement or pressure. We want to hear your thoughts and questions as we explore these themes together without the pressured atmosphere that usually comes with these conversations. Alpha is a series of sessions exploring faith, typically run over nine weeks. Each talk looks at a different question and is designed to create conversation. Everyone is welcome.

24/7 Global Week of Prayer

24-7 Prayer is hosting a Global Week of Prayer September 1-7, during which communities will be interceding nonstop in over 100 nations around the world.

In the US alone, there are hundreds of prayer rooms registered. And here at Bridgetown, we are participating through the Garden Space, the prayer room that has been established in Old Town for the collective church of Portland. We encourage you to consider participating in the open times of prayer in the morning, midday and evening throughout that week; as well as through the Lectio 365 app for times of prayer.

Foster Parents' Night Out Volunteer Training

Bridgetown has long partnered with Every Child PDX to host Foster Parents Night Out—a monthly space of joy, fun and belonging for children in foster care, and a much-needed break for parents. Bridgetown Creative Workshop: What is Christian Art?

What makes art “Christian”? Should it be comforting or can it also disturb, provoke, and push boundaries?

Join us for a conversation with author and pastor Josh Porter, exploring questions from his book With All Its Teeth. Together, we’ll consider how followers of Jesus can engage with beauty, creativity, and even the obscene through a lens of Scripture, story, and truth.

We’re curating the next edition of BREAD, our annual scripture reading and journaling guide. This year, we are inviting the Bridgetown Community to submit original work—painting, sculpture, collage, photography, poetry, textile, and more—for inclusion in BREAD 2026 alongside the scripture reading plan. All submissions must be high-quality images suitable for print. Selected artists will be credited in the book and retain full rights to their work. Baptism Class

If you are a follower of Jesus and have yet to enter the waters of baptism, we encourage you to take that step. The Baptism Class provides an opportunity to talk through the new identity, new family, and new mission that we have in Jesus. It also provides a great space to answer any questions you might have as you take this important step. 

For kids interested in baptism, we'll offer a 30 minute class (1:30-2 PM) designed for kids age 5-12 and their parents. Upon registration, you will be emailed an at-home discussion guide to complete before attending the class
