Supporting Our
Justice Partners
Practicing the way of Jesus together
How can I get involved?
At Bridgetown Church, we are becoming a people of proximity to the marginalized and there are opportunities for everyone to get involved. As we engage in Seven Areas of justice & mercy and serve on mission through our Communities, there are ever-present needs between our justice partners and the people whom we are collectively serving. We will be regularly sharing these needs in hopes that individuals from our church family will be able to help meet many of them and engage personally with our justice partners. Volunteer with Pamoja House Preschool
Pamoja House is in need of volunteers to help in their Preschool Mon - Thurs from 9:30 AM - 12 PM. They are not asking that a volunteer commits to each of those days, but could use help on any of those days. Volunteers in the Preschool help care for the children of Pamoja House students while the mothers are in class. They have daily lessons for the Preschool and volunteers help ensure they are providing a safe and nurturing environment for the children. Fill out a volunteer form!
The Neighborhood with Every Child PDX
Every Child PDX is launching a program called The Neighborhood, which connects teams of caring community volunteers (6-8 members) with local foster families in need of support. More than 50% of families who become certified to foster close their license after their first placement or within their first year of fostering. When community volunteers support and walk alongside a family during their first year of fostering, the number of families that continue beyond one placement or one year raises dramatically to more than 90%. Volunteer teams offer both tangible and intangible care, through meals, random acts of kindness, and encouragement. Through The Neighborhood, your team will show appreciation to foster families for the important work they do by offering tangible support and encouragement!
If you have a group that is interested in serving as a Neighborhood Team, please email Maia Anderson - Associate Director of Every Child PDX.
Restart Kits for Refugee Care Collective
Refugees arrive to Oregon with few possessions, and have to quickly build their lives again. Restart kits are plastic tubs filled with essential household items, and a complete set is formed by eight unique restart kits – one for each area of the home. The kits are received by newly arriving families and individuals, meeting a tangible need and communicating a message of welcome better than anything else initially can. It’s a first step in saying, “You are not alone. We are for you. You are welcome here.” Learn more about how to build Restart Kits.

Mentor Volunteers with Refugee Care Collective
Refugee Care Collective was born out of knowing that Portland has a story it’s stepping into, not just in receiving refugees, but in how we receive our new neighbors and how they become part of our city. Through family mentorship and youth mentorship programs, we show our care and invite our newest neighbors to make Portland their home. Learn more about how to become a Refugee Care Collective family or youth mentor.
How can I pray?
Pray for our justice partners
The Family Room
The Family Room (TFR) facilitates visits, aka "family time", with children in foster care and their parents. Please pray that the time that families spend together is healthy and healing for both children and parents. As well as on call meal makers.
KIZIMANI
Lord, we pray for guidance and wisdom in defining KIZIMANIs plans and strategies. This includes leadership and organizational changes, funding needed for operations, and the construction of a vocational learning center.
Mission Increase Oregon | SW Washington
Please pray for humility, strength, and clarity as I facilitate four October workshops for ministry leaders in Vancouver, Portland, and Salem. Pray for leaders and nonprofits to desire collaboration for the sake of the Gospel movement in our region.
With Love Oregon
After 10 years our founder is transitioning off of staff and onto a volunteer board position. I'm believing the work we are able to do is a staple in our community and much needed relief to foster families. I am believing that our supporters see this and commit to the kingdom work happening and not a person or people. That we don't skip a beat and we continue to make a positive impact in Oregon. As well as a season of Giving is starting for us October 1st. That people join us, give generously and we can make the holidays seasons bright for foster families.
Choice Adoptions
Pray for a single mom with a terminal cancer diagnosis. She is building an adoption plan for her two teenage sons so they will have a family when she passes. Pray for the time she has left with her sons, and pray that the Lord brings just the right family to adopt these boys and surround them with love.
Refugee Care Collective
For a greater number of individuals and communities in Portland to take up the invitation to build relationships with those who are resettling. Additionally, for continued emotional healing for our resettled neighbors and increased opportunities to join the workforce.
African Family Holistic Health Organization
Prayers for pregnant moms in the community we serve for healthy births. Asylum seekers in the shelter could be displaced soon. Prayers for housing.
Safe Families for Children
Please pray for the relationship between ODHS and the church and hearts to be moved in hearing stories of radical hospital. Please pray for the current and future connections between families that God would continue to move through those relationships.
Every Child PDX
The launch of The Neighborhood, Spiritual Protection for The Contingent Team, continued wisdom for our state connections and for kids and families separated due to foster care in our city.
Faithful Friends Mentoring
Pray for God to open more doors to more church partners/volunteers
Foster Parents’ Night Out
Pray that we can continue to be a safe harbor for kids and families in the foster care system.
Bridgetown Recovery Community
For safety, unity, and belonging for those in our family who are in recovery from drugs or alcohol.
CityTeam Portland
Please pray for our men’s shelter and program building as we decide between renovation, purchasing a new building, or building a brand new one. Pray for a successful capital campaign!
