Embrace Oregon stands in the gap for vulnerable children and families in partnership with the Department of Human Services, and happen to be one of Bridgetown’s longest partnerships as well. From tangibly giving Welcome Boxes or Emergency Needs, to actively serving as a respite provider for foster families or appreciating the DHS staff with coffee and ice cream, there’s a way for everyone to get involved.
Safe Families for Children
SFFC works to keep children safe during a family crisis, support and stabilize families with caring and compassionate community, and reunite families. In 2019, a three-year pilot demonstration project began to connect DHS to the SFFC network in order to deflect 10% of kids from entering foster care. Whether you are interested in being a Host Family, Family Coach, Family Friend, or Resource Friend, there is a spot for everyone.
Foster Parents’ Night Out
Foster Parents’ Night Out is an initiative of Every Child Oregon that provides monthly respite care to DHS foster families. Local sites host FPNO so that foster parents can have a night off, while trained volunteers care for their foster, adopted, and biological children. Bridgetown is in our 6th year of hosting, and we could use your help!
Current needs: Security, With Love pop-up shop hosts, Theme Planning (plan, create, and help themed activities for the night).
With love helps foster families impact the lives of children ages 0-6 by providing resources that nurture dignity, hope, and community. They provide tangible needs to nearly 120 Portland foster families each month; items such as diapers, blankets, books and clothing are available for pick up or delivery, as soon as a child is placed in a new home. From washing and sorting to packaging and delivering, there is a way for anyone to get involved.
